Firstly; on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank everyone who helped over the
weekend, your help was much appreciated.
I must apologise for the showers not having any hot water from Saturday onwards.
We did try to get it fixed but there was a fault with the boiler, so it was out of our control.
The show was quieter this year, but very enjoyable. The committee were informed that the
reasons could be that our date coincided with the Ford Fair, and also the Classic Ford Show
at Battlesbridge. It has therefore been decided to change the date next year to the first
weekend in August ; a week earlier. So we shall see if that makes any difference
to the numbers.
This year was the first time I have been to the A.G.M. as a committee member.
How disappointing it was that the number of members was so low, after all it is
your club so you should have your say on the way the club is run. Craig Watton
mentioned that he had heard people saying that the club was being run by OAPs!,
well without these OAPs you may not have a club, as the younger members do
not seem to have the time or inclination to help run it.
If you think the older members are not running the club properly, then it is your duty
to do something about it.
Let us get back to the show. The weekend had a good friendly atmosphere with good weather
and lots of laughs. The Road Run to Gaydon on Saturday was disappointing with only six
cars going, so we need to think of something else for next year. Overall the weekend
was very enjoyable.
There was a very good show of visiting car clubs, and I was very impressed with the
Mk111 Cortina Stand, and congratulations must got to the Mk11 Cortina Club on reaching
their 25th Anniversary; they also had a very impressive stand.
I must congratulate all of the class winners, and especially Paul Goodby for becoming the
Supreme Champion with his very well presented estate car.
Lastly the committee would like to thank Tommy Sandham and Graham Raymond
for taking all the photos.
The date for next year’s National is August 2nd & 3rd 2014 Please be there.
